Mead Up – Memorial Day Weekend

 In Mead Tasting, Meadup

Unlike breweries and most wineries in Virginia we are unable to sell mead by the glass. The exception is that four times a year we are able to obtain a special permit which allows us to serve to you by the glass. We call these four special weekends: MEAD UP. **Update – The Virginia ABC has increased this to 8 times a year as of July 2017!**

We had such a great time at our first MEAD UP event back in March we couldn’t wait to make another one happen. We’re looking forward to bringing back the celtic sounds of the Route 5 Ramblers (formerly Gaelic Blessing), as well as jazz duo Jordan Ponzi and John Calisto. Also we are excited to have the Hound’s Tale back with us serving up lunch on Saturday.

Now for what’s new this time! Lunch was such a hit that we wanted to continue to offer food on Saturday so we’ve partnered with our friends at Good Life Kitchen to have food available during the supper hour beginning at 5:30pm.

We have also added fantastic cellist, Sterling Elliot to our Sunday afternoon.

And to try something completely new we’ll be offering a mead and chocolate pairing option on Friday night with “Virginia’s Finest Chocolates” beginning at 5pm. More info below!

Jazz by Jordan Ponzi (bass) and John Calisto (guitar).

Jordan and John provided the perfect atmosphere at our first MEAD UP and are two of the finest jazz musicians in Hampton Roads. You can hear Jordan Ponzi and John Calisto on Saturday from 12:30pm-2:30pm while you enjoy lunch from The Hound’s Tale.
