Celebrating National Mead Day at Silver Hand Meadery
Williamsburg’s Silver Hand Meadery will be celebrating National Mead Day on Saturday August 6.
Founder Glenn Lavender says, “We’re excited to celebrate this historic drink in our historic city.”
In 2002, the American Homebrewers Association declared “Mead Day” as the first Saturday in August to increase awareness about mead. Mead is one of the most historic fermented drinks found on Earth. It has the creativity of craft beer and the elegance of wine, but is in a category all its own. Mead is created by fermenting sugars found in honey, with additional herbs, spices, and fruits added to create unique flavors. Mead can be dry or sweet; come taste to see which you prefer!
In honor of National Mead Day, customers who come in and simply say “Happy Mead Day” will receive a Silver Hand Meadery glass with a minimum $20 purchase.
Silver Hand Meadery’s popular “All Blues” is back in stock and ready for purchase! Locals and tourists love the experience of learning more about the honey bee and the process of making honey and mead. Come in for a simple honey tasting for only $5. Mead tastings are always free.
